Eragon tilted his head to one side thoughtfully, and then smiled.
"I don't care. Do you care? It's none of their blasted business anyway,"he smiled,"though Bid'Daum is getting a bit irritated at the both of us,"he laughed lightly.
"This is...a bit fast, though,"he said in a more serious tone, looking down. "I'm just...new to this. But it is refreshing to have something new in my life,"Eragon nodded, looking at Lin appreciatively. The ends of his lips turned up into a grin, but then he winced at the sudden sharp pain in his side where he was injured.

Lin smiled. "I don't care what they say. It's good to know that you don't either. But you are my patient, and I your doctor. If anyone asks, I can say it's medicine." She kissed Eragon lightly one last time, then pulled away, heading towards the curtain door. Her voice was gruff again, and she didn't look at Eragon until she was at the doorway. Then she turned, one hand on the wood, looking over her shoulder. A small smile touched her lips, and she beckoned with her free hand. "You have work to do, and I can't stress you." Lin's smile became nonexistent, and her expression became scholarly, almost bored.
"Being around young, pretty girls often causes men's heart rates to rise, and their blood to pump faster." The elf turned away, but her voice continued on as she moved down the hallway that connected her bedroom and workroom. "So, if they are wounded, they are likely to lose much more blood. I can't allow..." Her voice trailed off as the curtain swished behind her.

Eragon chuckled, and then smiled.
"Farewell, Lin. I shall see you soon," he responded, walking out the door. Bid'Daum attempted to communicate with him, but Eragon's mind had been blocked, absorbed with thoughts of Lin and how the day had started routinely, but then became something more. Something more indeed. He could see himself laughing and being happy again because of this. No more long days of boredom stretched out before him, like a flame melting wax slowly from a candle at the end of its life. It knew the end was coming, soon, but not the exact time or day. Eragon now found a fresh new start, and seemed to be overly content with it. As he walked away from the healer's quarters, he confused quite a few apprentices and some Riders with his smile.
